Uzbekistan Passport Photo Requirements, Explained

35x45mm — but the head is published as 34.5mm exactly, not as a range, which changes how you should crop.

Quick Check: Do's & Don'ts

Don't Aim for the Middle

34.5mm sits near the top of the range.

No PNG

.jpg only, under 240KB.

Standard 35x45mm

The same frame as the Uzbek e-visa.

Head 34.5mm

Measured hair to chin.

A Single Number, Not a Range

34.5mm, where most countries give 32-36mm.

Almost every 35x45mm country publishes a head height as a band — typically 32-36mm — which gives you 4mm of tolerance. Uzbekistan's passport guidance instead gives a single figure: 34.5mm from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin.

Practically, 34.5mm sits in the upper part of the usual band, close to the 36mm ICAO ceiling. So if you crop by habit to the middle of a 32-36mm range, you will land around 34mm and be fine — but if you crop conservatively small, at 32mm, you are further from the published figure than you might think.

This tool targets the 32-36mm band with 34.5mm inside it. Aim high in that band rather than low.

Same File Rules as the e-Visa

.jpg only, 240KB ceiling.

The digital format is .jpg and the file must come in at 240KB or less — the same constraint the Uzbek e-visa applies. PNG and HEIC uploads are refused, and HEIC is what modern iPhones produce by default.

Export explicitly as JPEG, and get under the limit by lowering the JPEG quality rather than shrinking the pixel dimensions. Downscaling to hit the byte count leaves the face too small to verify.

Background & Head Position

Plain white, head square to the camera.

The background must be plain white with no shadows. Stand about a metre clear of the wall so your shoulders cast nothing onto it, and light your face evenly from the front.

Your head must face the camera directly, with the face fully visible and centred in the frame — no tilting, no turning. Because the head fills most of the height, even a small tilt is visible.

Expression, Glasses & Recency

Neutral face, no glasses, six months.

Keep a neutral facial expression with your mouth closed. Both eyes should be open and clearly visible.

Remove glasses unless you require them for a documented medical reason. The photo must be high-resolution, unedited, and taken within the last six months so it reflects your current appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.What size is an Uzbek passport photo?
35x45mm, with the head published as 34.5mm from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin.
Q.Why is the head height a single number?
Most 35x45mm countries publish a 32-36mm band. Uzbekistan gives 34.5mm exactly, which sits near the top of that band — so aim high rather than cropping conservatively small.
Q.What format does it have to be?
.jpg only, at 240KB or less — the same rule as the Uzbek e-visa. PNG and HEIC are refused, and HEIC is the iPhone default.
Q.Is it the same as the Uzbekistan visa photo?
The frame and file rules match, so a crop generally carries over. The passport publishes the more specific 34.5mm head figure.
Q.Can I wear glasses?
Only with a documented medical reason. Otherwise remove them so your eyes are clearly visible.
