Make Qatar Visa Photo

Qatar's visa and Hayya card photos use a 30x40mm frame, commonly written as 3x4cm. It is shorter and narrower than the 35x45mm photo most other countries ask for, so a spare ICAO photo will be the wrong proportions.

Because the frame is small, your face needs to fill 70-80% of the height for the features to be usable. A photo taken from too far away leaves your face too small to pass.

The Hayya platform accepts JPEG or JPG uploads and caps the file at 2MB. Save the file this tool produces and upload it directly rather than screenshotting it — screenshots lose resolution and often pick up the wrong aspect ratio.

Hayya's requirements have been revised more than once since the platform launched. Check the current specification in the Hayya app before you upload, and follow it if it differs from what you see here.

Use a plain white or light-coloured wall with even lighting and no visible shadow behind your head. Patterns, furniture edges and other people in frame all count as defects.

Sharpness matters more here than in larger formats. Hold the camera steady, or better, have someone else take the photo from about a metre and a half away — arm's-length selfies distort facial proportions.

Look straight at the camera with a neutral expression, mouth closed and both eyes open and clearly visible. No smiling.

Sunglasses are not allowed. Head coverings worn for religious reasons are accepted as long as your full face stays visible from the chin to the top of the forehead.
