Poland used to require a three-quarter left profile. It does not any more.
For years Polish ID photos used a distinctive three-quarter left profile with the left ear visible. That requirement was dropped when Poland moved to biometric documents, and the photo is now a straightforward frontal view.
Older guides and even some photo shops still repeat the old rule. If someone tells you to turn your head, they are working from out-of-date instructions.

Both eyes must be clearly visible and open, with hair clear of the eyes and nothing obscuring the outline of the face.

Polish citizens living in the UK, Ireland, Germany and elsewhere renew through a Polish consulate, which generally asks you to bring photos rather than taking them on site.
The specification is the same 35x45mm photo. Since UK and Irish booths produce 35x45mm as standard, the size is usually fine — it is the pose and background that trip people up.
