Pakistan's visa system is online-first, so the two rules that actually get people rejected are a pixel floor rather than a print size, and a flat ban on glasses.

The pixel count is the constraint that matters.

Pakistan's visa applications run through the NADRA online visa system, which means you attach a file rather than hand over a print. The published requirement is that the image must be larger than 350 x 467 pixels.

That reframes what can go wrong. A photo can be a perfectly correct 35x45mm crop and still be rejected for being too few pixels — which is exactly what happens if you crop a small thumbnail, or use an image that has been resized down by a messaging app before you saved it.

Glasses Are Not Allowed

Stricter than most countries, including for clear lenses.

Pakistani guidance states that you must not wear glasses and that your eyes must be clearly visible. This is stricter than several countries that permit thin, non-tinted frames as long as there is no glare and the frames do not cross the eyes.

Take them off rather than trying to angle them to avoid reflection. If you normally wear glasses, take the photo without them and do not worry about the mismatch with how you usually look — the requirement is about the eyes being unobstructed.

Headwear is treated differently: hats and coverings are acceptable only where they do not cover any part of the face.

Background & Image Quality

Plain white, adequate brightness and contrast.

The background must be plain white with no shadows, textures or other objects. Stand about a metre clear of the wall so your shadow does not land on the surface behind you.

The guidance also asks specifically for adequate brightness and contrast, and for the photo to be in colour. An underexposed photo where your face reads as a dark mass against a bright wall fails on this even when the framing is correct — light your face, not just the background.

Pose & Framing

Head and shoulders, 70-80% of the frame, straight to camera.

Show your head and the top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 70-80% of the photograph, and look directly into the camera. No tilting or turning.

Keep a neutral expression. The photo must be no more than six months old and must reflect how you look now.
