Make Greek Passport Photo

The National Passport Centre states that printed photographs were accepted "at the latest until 31/01/2026". From 1 February 2026, an application filed inside Greece submits the photograph digitally through the myPhoto service on gov.gr, where a registered photo stays valid for six months.

This is a change of channel, not a ban on making your own photo — unlike Germany or Sweden, the applicant still supplies the image. Consular posts abroad may still capture the photo on site where they have the equipment, so check with the consulate handling your case.

passport.gov.gr specifies "40 mm x 60 mm without frame". If you prepared a photo against a generic European or Schengen template you have the wrong aspect ratio, and cropping a 35x45mm image to fit will cut into the head margins.

Greece defers to ICAO 9303 for the detailed head geometry rather than restating millimetres, so leave generous clearance above the hair and keep the face centred rather than trying to hit an exact figure.

This is unusually precise. Most authorities say "light grey" and stop there; Greece publishes the actual triplet, with a tolerance of ten either side. A white wall is not what they asked for.

The background must be uniform, without patterns or shadows. Stand about a metre away from the wall so your body does not throw a shadow onto it, and light your face evenly from the front.

Face the camera with a neutral expression, mouth closed and both eyes open and clearly visible.

Glasses are tolerated only without glare and with the frames clear of the eyes; removing them avoids the question. Head coverings are accepted for religious reasons provided the full face stays visible.
