Georgia states the angle explicitly.

Georgian guidance asks for the camera to be positioned at eye level. Most countries only imply this by requiring a level head and a full frontal view; Georgia writes the camera position down.

It matters because angle changes proportion. Shooting from below enlarges the jaw and nostrils; shooting from above enlarges the forehead and shrinks the chin. Biometric matching measures exactly those relationships, so an off-axis camera can fail a photo that otherwise looks fine. Put the lens level with your eyes, not with your chest.

Size & Head Height

Georgia uses the standard 35x45mm photo, so the crop is the same shape as a European passport or Schengen visa photo. The head, measured from chin to the top of the hair, should fill 70-80% of the image height — around 33mm.

There is also a digital variant published as 472x591 pixels, which is the same 35x45mm proportion expressed in pixels rather than millimetres. One correctly framed crop covers both.

A Comfortable File Limit

Under 5MB, at 300-600 DPI.

The e-visa portal accepts JPEG files up to 5MB, which is unusually relaxed — Uzbekistan caps at 240KB and Kazakhstan at 30KB. You are unlikely to hit this ceiling.

The binding requirement here is resolution rather than size: at least 300 DPI, and 600 DPI is better. That means working from an original camera file rather than a screenshot or a heavily compressed social-media export.

Background & Face

Plain and light, face fully visible.

Use a plain white or light-coloured background with no patterns, shadows or objects behind you. Stand about a metre clear of the wall.

Keep a neutral expression with your mouth closed and both eyes open. Remove glasses, hats and scarves unless you need them for religious or medical reasons, and even then your facial features must remain fully visible.
